About Us

Baka Books is named for the baka tree, which symbolises growth and shelter and is native to Fiji. Its aerial roots spark the imagination and can harbour many secrets, and various parts of the tree are used in traditional healing. In parts of India, the Baka was known as the ‘justice tree’ due to the conversations that were held beneath it. We hope that Baka Books and the titles we stock also spark and shelter many spirited and meaningful conversations.
