Lomana Tale (Love Again)takes inspiration from a sustainable soft toy adoption agency based in the UK, called Loved Before.
The founder of Loved Before says, “We believe there are enough toys in the world to never have to produce another again. At Loved Before our mission is to make a difference by recycling pre-loved toys … to save the planet, one teddy at a time”
When my youngest son was learning to read, he loved having a toy to hold that matched the story. It helped to bring the story and characters to life and added another dimension to story-time and his imaginative play after the read-aloud.
With this in mind, a Lomana Tale gift package contains a preloved children’s picture book and a preloved toy, related to the story in some way.
Each toy has been washed and, if necessary, mended and restuffed.
Each book is carefully chosen, based on my years of experience of reading with children. Quality stories would be guaranteed!!
Whilst every effort is made to provide books of a very high standard, a few wrinkles will probably be encountered!
As part of the Lomana Tale read-aloud, children (and their parents!) are encouraged to wonder over the previous life of the book and/or the toy and begin to make up their own stories. Who might the toy (or book) have belonged to before? What were they like? How did the toy/book find its way to Fiji? What adventures did it have along the way? What adventures might it have now that it has a new home?
