Lakovi

Lakovi is a dramatic retelling of the traditional Fijian marriage proposal process. The play explores the customs of ai lakovi, which involves the man’s family presenting a tabua (whale’s tooth) and other gifts to the woman’s family. The play also explores themes of human rights, religion, and traditional consent in marriage.
